Kenya Sevens legend Lavin Asego has won the Enterprise Cup on two occasions with Mwamba RFC, in 2006 and 2013, and shares the feeling of playing and winning in the final of the oldest rugby competition in Kenya.

In his words, Asego says, “The beauty of the Enterprise Cup is that it is a knockout competition.Basically you snooze you loose”. The competition really tests the players’ resilience seeing that it takes place after the long and grueling Kenya Cup season.

The two times I have played in the Enterprise Cup finals was against Kenya Harlequins and Top Fry Nakuru..both times with my one and only Kulabu.

The thrill of a final is second to none..especially due to the fact that in both occasions we were the underdogs.Winning the Cup takes a lot of character from players and tactful thinking because there is no need for bonus points, just winning, even with a single point. As opposed to kicking to the corner for that push over bonus point try, taking the 3-points from a penalty could be good enough.

In both times I have won the Cup it has been a good morale booster to uplift the spirit of the boys after loosing out on the Kenya Cup.

The Enterprise Cup is very prestigious and I am looking forward to watching the clash between recently crowned Kenya Cup champions Kabras Sugar and defending Enterprise Cup champs KCB. See you there
