Blak Blad inched closer to safety with a 30-13 win over former champions Mean Machine at the KCB Sports Club in Ruaraka.

Allan Asige put Blak Blad ahead with a try after two minutes of play before Steven Odhiambo doubled their lead thirteen minutes later, his unconverted try seeing the Kenyatta University side go 10-0 up.

Machine would cut the deficit through a Morris Barasa penalty four minutes later but Reuben Moegi slotted home a drop goal to put Blad 13-3 up. Moegi would then convert Lennox Oduor’s try to give his side a 20-3 lead at the interval.

Elphas Manya would keep Machine in the game, scoring a converted try after the break before adding a penalty to bring the score to 20-13 but further tries from Felix Juma and Odhiambo saw Blad grab the result and with it the varsity bragging rights.

This  result sees Blak Blad move further away from the drop zone with Machine firmly entrenched in 13th position.
