The fifteens season kicks off this afternoon with the pre-season Impala Floodlit tournament at the Impala Club off Ngong Road.
This tournament, played every year since 1983 acts as a build up to the Kenyan league season, teams trying out new tactics while using the opportunity to try out their latest signings or players returning from injury or work related layoffs.
The tournament this year will be played over three weekends starting with today’s cup quarterfinal action before the semifinals are played on 11th November with the lights going out on the event on 18th November.
Champions Resolution Impala Saracens have a bye in the clubs category and will not be in action today but there are still some exciting match ups to look forward to. Last year’s losing finalists KCB, will get action in the clubs category underway with a match against debutants Resolution Kisii before the Strathmore Leos duel a team that simply loves the Floodies, Mean Machine. The night’s last encounter pits SportPesa Quins against Menengai Cream Homeboyz.
There will also be action in the varsity category starting with Blak Blad taking on MKU Thika in the day’s first quarterfinal before the Menengai Oilers duel Mean Machine with Strathmore Catulus facing TUK. The last match in the varsity category will see the Daystar Falcons square it out with the Catholic Monks.
