Top Fry Nakuru II topped Resolution Impala Saracens II 20-16 to win the 2016 Mwamba Cup at the RFUEA Ground on Saturday 18 June 2016.

It was a contest as close as the score, the two sides going at each other pound for pound.

Muniafu clan member Jeremy Mwambu, son of Joe Muniafu, opened the scoring, grounding the ball with Xavier Kipngetich converting to see Impala lead 7-0 two minutes in.

Monate Akuei would respond with a try for the Wanyore, bringing the score to 7-5 but Kipngetich’s penalty saw Impala lead 10-5 at the break.

Martin Muita converted Charlton Mokua’s try to see Nakuru lead 12-10 on the restart before Kipngetich returned Impala to the leaderboard, the scores 13-12.

Calvin Otieno put Nakuru ahead for good, his try bringing it to 17-13 before Impala fired one last salvo, Kipngetich with a penalty to make it 17-16. A late penalty saw Nakuru secure the result.
