Matchday four of the Kenya Cup served a thrilling double header at the RFUEA Grounds as fans soaked in a feast of action packed rugby. Impala finally broke their duck this season with a spirited 43-19 triumph over Daystar. In the second fixture Nondescripts RFC once again asserted dominance over Kenya Harlequins, brushing aside Quins 32-22 to make it four straight wins in this rivalry.
Menengai Oilers kept their juggernaut rolling with a ruthless 66- 08 win over Strathmore Leos, while KU Blak Blad turned the Blad Bin into a lecture hall, schooling fellow students MMUST 47-17. Away from the capital KCB silenced Nakuru with a solid 43-19 win over Wanyore, and further west Kabras Sugar ran riot in Kisumu with a 74-10 victory over the hosts Kisumu RFC.
The Championship was equally lively with Homeboyz grinding out a 22-12 win over Zetech Oaks to stay on course. JKUAT Cougars showed renewed bite after the Christmas break, clawing back to beat NYS Spades 29-22. In a fiery varsity derby CUEA Catholic Monks stunned Mean Machine on their own turf, leaving the hosts nursing heartbreak after a 29- 22 loss. Mwamba RFC also stayed in the winners column with a narrow 22-17 win over USIU Martials. Down at the coast Mombasa RFC enjoyed derby bragging rights after edging South Coast Pirates 13-08, while Western Bulls joined the winning side after narrowly edging Kisii RFC 29-28.
Action in the Eric Shirley Shield added onto the action as KCB ran rampant in the Eastern Conference, crushing KU Blak Blad 71-10. Strathmore Leos edged Impala in a tight affair winning 12-07, while Kenya Harlequins delivered a statement performance by overpowering Daystar 45-12. In the Western Conference Kabras continued their dominance with a solid 30-14 win over Oilers, and Kisumu RFC capped off the round with a 28-0 against Nakuru RFC.
