The final day of the regular season in the Kenya Cup promises high stakes across the board, with match day 11 set to determine both the finish at the top of the table and the fate of teams battling to avoid relegation. Headlining the weekend’s fixtures is the much-anticipated Rai derby at the ASK Showground Kakamega where log leaders Kabras Sugar RFC will host Menengai Oilers RFC. The clash could play a decisive role in determining who finishes top of the standings, with Kabras eager to secure a victory that guarantees them first place. The visiting Oilers, however, will be equally motivated as a win could propel them to either second or even first place depending on the outcome of the fixture between KCB Rugby and Daystar Falcons. Meanwhile, KCB will be keen to end the regular season on a high when they face the Athi River-based students, knowing that an Oilers victory in Kakamega could hand them top spot courtesy of their head-to-head win advantage over Oilers. Elsewhere in Nairobi, Impala RFC host Nondescripts RFC in the Ngong Road derby at the Impala Club, with the hosts still flirting dangerously with relegation despite having a game in hand and currently sitting tenth on 12 points.
In Kisumu, Kisumu RFC will welcome Blak Blad RFC at the ASK Showground Mamboleo. The hosts appear to have all but accepted their relegation fate, while the visitors will be determined to cement their place in the playoffs. At the Strathmore Sports Complex, Strathmore Leos ,already comfortably placed for the postseason take on Kenya Harlequin, with Quins still chasing a late push into the playoff spots as they currently sit seventh, just one place outside qualification. The final fixture will see a tense relegation battle in Kakamega where MMUST RFC host Nakuru RFC. MMUST, second from bottom with just 10 points despite having a game in hand, remain in a precarious position, while Nakuru, currently ninth with 18 points, know that unfavorable results elsewhere could still drag them to position 11.
Elsewhere in the KRU Championship, the competition also enters its decisive phase of the regular season this weekend, with only two teams still holding a game in hand. Action begins at the NYS Headquarters Ruaraka where NYS Spades will host Mean Machine RFC, the visitors desperate for a win as they seek to escape the looming relegation axe. At the coast, Mombasa RFC welcome Homeboyz RFC in a fixture that could see the hosts cement their playoff position with a victory. In Nairobi, USIU Martials face JKUAT Cougars with the hosts fighting to move further away from the relegation zone, currently only one place above the drop, while the visitors who still have a game in hand , will be keen to solidify a home semi-final slot. At the bottom of the standings, Western Bulls RFC host Zetech Oaks RFC in a clash that could be crucial for the Oaks, as a win would lift them clear of the relegation threat while the Bulls appear resigned to a return to the Nationwide league. Elsewhere, Catholic Monks RFC travel to Kisii to face Kisii RFC, while in Nairobi a top-of-the-table clash awaits as Mwamba RFC square off against South Coast Pirates at the Goan Institute in Pangani.
