Match day eight of the Kenya Cup is headlined by one of the competition’s fiercest rivalries as KCB Rugby welcome the Sugarmen Kabras RFC to the Lions Den in Ruaraka. With only two matches left before the playoffs, the clash carries major implications at the top of the table. Hosts KCB sit second with 43 points and will be eager to maintain their unbeaten run while pushing for a home semi final slot. Kabras arrive in the capital riding high after reaching their fiftieth unbeaten fifteens match last weekend and currently lead the standings with 45 points, having secured nine bonus point wins from nine games this season. Historically the rivalry has been tight as the two sides have met eighteen times in the Kenya Cup since 2014 including finals and regular season matches. KCB have claimed eleven victories while Kabras have won six with one draw recorded between them.

Elsewhere, Menengai Oilers fresh from their first loss of the season host MMUST Rugby who continue to flirt with relegation. Nondescripts RFC take on Daystar Falcons at Ngong Racecourse with the hosts desperate to keep their playoff hopes alive as they sit ninth with 14 points despite having a game in hand. Impala RFC travel to Thika Road to face KU Blak Blad who are keen to cement their playoff place. Kenya Harlequin FC will host Kisumu RFC at the RFUEA Grounds with the visitors looking for a result that could lift them from the foot of the table where they currently sit on eight points. At Nakuru Athletics Club, Nakuru RFC hope to edge into the playoff picture when they face Strathmore Leos who are fourth and aiming to strengthen their hold on a playoff position.

The KRU Championship will also deliver an exciting round of fixtures across the country. Third placed South Coast Pirates host fifth placed NYS Spades at the Seacrest Grounds in Diani. Table leaders Mwamba RFC face a determined Catholic Monks RFC side who are currently fourth and chasing a home semi final slot. Zetech Oaks take on Kisii RFC while Mombasa RFC travel to the capital to face Mean Machine RFC. In the final fixture of the round Homeboyz RFC meet USIU Martials in what promises to be another competitive weekend in the second tier.
