Week One of the 2019/2020 Kenya Cup season saw four of the six home teams secure their first wins on home turf. Kabras Sugar kicked off their season on a high as they registered 89 points to their name in their match against newly promoted side Kisumu RFC. The defending Champions handed Western Bulls a 11-48 loss at the Lion’s Den in Ruaraka.

The Blakblad versus Stanbic Mwamba match was another high scoring match only that this one was from both parties. At the breather, Kulabu was trailing 15-17 to their hosts. Both sides would then exchange tries and points in the last forty minutes of the match with Mwamba emerging victorious with a 34-27 full time score.

Menengai Oilers who were on top form during the recently concluded Impala Floodlit Tournament had a great day in office after they beat Top Fry Nakuru RFC 31-5 at the Nakuru ASK Showgrounds. Oilers kicked off the match with a 7-0 lead before landing their second try off a scrum in Nakuru’s red zone. They held on to this lead to the breather before extending their lead by 19 points in the second half while conceding one try from Nakuru.

The double header saw Menengai Cream Homeboyz secure a confident 26-13 win over the Kenya Harlequins while Resolution Impala Saracens beat the Nondies 26-14 in the second Kenya Cup match at the Jamhuri Showgrounds.
