Western Bulls scrum half Erastus Wanyama has been handed a four week ban after being sent off for a dangerous tackle during his side’s Kenya Cup 8-41 loss away to KCB on Saturday 10 December 2016.

KRU Judicial Official Bernard Itebete ruled, “The player expressed remorse during the hearing and does understand that action of this nature during the run of play will expose danger to what is already a high impact sport. He understood the danger exposed to the tackled player and in light of the need to create a safer playing environment, I feel that the offence should face a low end sanction of 4 weeks including time served already. This will be effective in the active rugby season.”

Wanyama be eligible to play from 11th February 2017 after sitting out his side’s clashes against Mean Machine, Mwamba, Top Fry Nakuru and SportPesa Quins.
