Visitors University of Eldoret survived a furious second half fightback from hosts Kisumu,pulling off a 14-10 win in KRU Championship action at the Mamboleo Showground in Kisumu.
UoE went ahead with an early converted try for a 7-0 lead. The visitors were soon 14-0 uo after sustained pressure earned them a second converted try.
The hosts responded with a penalty to bring the score to 14-3.
Kisumu would ask more quests of their visitors but lacked that incisive edge and would head into the break trailing by 11 points.
They would dominate the opening stages of the second half, twice held up on the UoE try line as they desperately chased the game.
The pressure eventually paid off, a converted try bring them to within three of the visitors but it was an exercise in futility,UoE holding out for the win.
