Catholic Monks Earn A Home Semifinal In The Championship Playoffs

The KRU Championship League heads to the playoffs on the 27th of April just like the Kenya Cup League. The top two teams will earn themselves a straight home semifinal while ranks three to six face each other in the playoffs for a slot in the semis.

After the last league match, Catholic Monks are top of the log with 59 points, four above second placed Western Bulls and ten above USIU. USIU however have two games in hand that will be played on the 7th of April vs Ngong and on the 13th of April, the side will head down to Coast for their match against the South Coast Pirates. The results of the two matches will determine whether USIU will have earned themselves a home semifinal or not.

Kisumu RFC, Masinde Muliro and Mombasa RFC complete the top six teams which are in the playoffs. The three sides won their match day 16 fixtures after beating the opponents Kitale RFC, Kisii RFC and SC Pirates.

Kisii, University of Eldoret, Egerton Wasps and South Coast Pirates are safely in the Championship league come next season while Kitale RFC and Ngong Warriors who finished eleventh and twelve respectively will drop to the Nationwide League.
