Strathmore Leos kicked off their season in the new territory on a high as they beat the 2018/2019 National Nationwide Champions 32-7 at the Cage in Madaraka.
Mean Machine on the other hand suffered a painful one-point loss to South Coast Pirates in Ukunda going down 17-18. Both Coastal based teams were victorious on day one as Mombasa RFC beat the visiting Catholic Monks 10-5 at the Mombasa Sports Club. University of Eldoret, Eldoret RFC and Masinde Muliro secured their wins as they beat their opponents Kisii, USIU and Egerton Wasps 26-3, 18-17 and 18-11 respectively.
