Kabras Sugar’s Derrick Ashihundu leads the Kenya Cup try scoring charts after match day one. The Simbas winger scored 4 tries in Saturday’s 72-10 home win over Kisumu at the Kakamega Showground.

Six players, namely Austin Sikutwa (KCB Rugby), Beldad Ogeta (Menengai Oilers), Javan Otieno (Nakuru), Laban Kipsang (Kenya Harlequin), Patrick Mwakina (Homeboyz)  and George Nyambua (Kabras Sugar) are joint second on 2 tries apiece.

Another 35 players are on 1 try each after the opening weekend that saw a total of 51 tries scored across the 6 matches.

Meanwhile, Shujaa speedster Patrick Odongo is one of three players tied for joint top try scorer after the opening round of the second tier KRU Championship.

Odongo scored twice in Daystar Falcons 34-5 win over Mombasa, and he is joined by the Impala duo of Brian Ochieng and Quinto Ongo who each landed a brace in their team’s 39-5 win over USIU Martials.

Another 12 players are on 1 try each on a match day that saw 18 tries scored in the Championship.
