Former Kenya Cup winner Lawrence Buyachi is the new Head Coach at former Kenya Cup side Kisumu, who are currently playing in the Kenya Rugby Union’s second tier Championship

Buyachi, a former Kenya international back row enjoyed a stellar club career that saw him feature for Nakuru where he won back to back Kenya Cup titles in 2013 and 2014 in his second stint at his first top tier club, coming off the back of a spell at Impala Saracens between 2010 and 2012.  He also had a stint at Uganda’s Pirates.

He also featured for Kabras Sugar between 2019 and 2021 before retiring from the game altogether.

Buyachi, who joins Kisumu on a one year contract.  will be tasked with restoring the fortunes of the lakeside club who barely survived relegation from the second tier to the third tier KRU Nationwide regional league, this, coming hot on the heels of their relegation from the Kenya Cup at the close of the COVID disrupted 2019/20 season.
