Derby victory lifts Nakuru

Top Fry Nakuru’s 19-17 derby win over town rivals Menengai Oilers at the Nakuru Athletic Club on Saturday 25 January 2020 has seen the 2013 and 2014 Kenya Cup champions climb one place up the log from 6th to 5th , keeping their chances of making the Top 6 playoffs very much alive.

The Wanyore have 33 points from 7 wins and 5 losses, two more than the Oilers who dropped to sixth on 31 points.

Leaders Kabras Sugar (55 points)  and defending champions KCB (54 points) stayed in the home semifinal berths after registering bonus point wins on the road. Kabras maintained their one point lead over KCB with a 59-13 win over basement side Kisumu at the Mamboleo Showground in Kisumu while KCB beat Western Bulls 29-8 at The Bull Ring in Kakamega.

Third placed Homeboyz (49 points) posted their biggest ever Kenya Cup win over Quins, beating their hosts 48-3 at the RFUEA Ground while Resolution Impala Saracens (40 points) consolidated fourth place with a 28-18 home win over Nondescripts.

Stanbic Mwamba (29 points) stayed seventh, but still within touching distance of the playoffs after laboring to a 15-14 win over Blak Blad (14 points) who picked up a crucial losing bonus point that puts them one point clear of eleventh placed Western Bulls and the relegation zone.
