The North Rift city of Eldoret will host a KRU Championship double header at the University of Eldoret ground on Saturday 18 January 2020.

Runaway leaders Strathmore Leos who have won all ten of their outings to date will play against eighth placed Eldoret RFC in the early kickoff.

With six rounds of action left in the league phase, Strathmore Leos are all but assured of home semifinal qualification as they seek to make a quick return to the Kenya Cup. Eldoret who last played in the Kenya Cup during the 2013/14 season are four points off the final playoff berth and are faced with the unenviable task of trying to upset  Strathmore.

This will set the stage for the clash between hosts University of Eldoret Trojans and South Coast Pirates at 4.00pm. The Trojans are a formidable force to reckon with at home and despite their current tenth place ranking on the log, they will look to claim the scalp of Howard Okwemba’s  South Coast Pirates who are currently placed sixth and with a realistic chance of playoff qualification.

The all varsity clash between USIU Martials and Mean Machine takes place at the USIU ground in Roysambu. USIU come into this clash placed fifth as they seek to consolidate their playoff qualification hopes against a Mean Machine side that is placed third and firmly focused on returning to the Kenya Cup after relegation last season.

Fourth placed Northern Suburbs were only promoted from the third tier this season and they have thus far punched above their weight, never out of the top six since the start of the season.

They will however be put under severe pressure when they play away to playoff chasing Egerton Wasps at the latter’s home ground in Njoro.

Egerton are placed seventh, just one position and four points outside the top six and need the result against Suburbs to boost their ambitions with just six rounds of the league phase left to play.

Second placed Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) have a home fixture against ninth placed Catholic Monks in Kakamega while Kisii and Mombasa face off at the Gusii Stadium in the bottom of the table clash.
