KCB stayed top of the Kenya Cup with a 62-15 win away to Menengai Oilers at the Nakuru Showground on Saturday 11 February 2023.

It was the hosts, Oilers, who went ahead through a Geoffrey Ominde penalty after seven minutes of play but KCB quickly responded, Samuel Asati breaching the whitewash with Darwin Mukidza converting for a 7-3 score.

KCB grew to dominate the clash, pinning the Oilers inside their 22. Mukidza would dummy, score and convert his own try for a 14-3 lead before converting Asati’s second try for a 21-3 lead at the interval.

Mukidza drilled a penalty after the restart to see KCB go 24-3 up before converting one of Festus Shiasi’s two tries to put the bankers 36-3 up.

With Mukidza off the pitch, the scoring didn’t stop as Essau Otieno landed a try with Isaac Njoroge converting for a 43-3 lead.

Njoroge would then convert Brian Wahinya’s try for a 50-3 lead before Ominde converted Chrispin Shitundo’s try to bring the score to 50-10.

It was soon 55-10 after Peter Waitere went over for KCB before Ominde landed a try for Oilers to make it 55-15 but the bankers had the last say, Waitere landing his brace with Njoroge converting for the full time score.
