Match day one of the new Kenya Cup season is set for Saturday 26 November 2022 with a total of six matches lined up.

Defending champions Kabras Sugar begin their campaign with a clash at home to Catholic Monks at the Kakamega Showground in Kakamega Town. The defending champions have been busy in the pre-season, playing a number of buildup fixtures that included the Victoria 15s and a friendly clash against Kenya Harlequin this past weekend.

Catholic Monks are making a return to the top tier after an eight year hiatus and do have their work cut in Kakamega.

Other matches on match day one see last season’s runners up Menengai Oilers do battle with three time champions Mean Machine who are also making their return to the top flight after spending last season in the KRU Championship. This match is set for the Nakuru Showground in Nakuru City.

The KCB Sports Club in Ruaraka plays host to what is undoubtedly the pick of the round when a couple of former champions duel as KCB and Kenya Harlequin meet up. Both sides have equally been busy in the pre-season, KCB winning the Impala Floodies just over a fortnight ago and it will be recalled that they edged out Quins 14-`10 in their quarterfinal fixture under the Impala lights. Quins, who ended their pre-season preps on a high with a 35-24 win over Kabras Sugar this past weekend will be keen to improve on last season’s performance that saw them freefall to a tenth place finish after starting the season on a high.

The all varsity clash between Strathmore Leos and Masinde Muliro at The Cage in Madaraka should excite rugby fans as should the fixture between Mwamba and Homeboyz.

Blak Blad host Nakuru at the Kenyatta University.
