Mombasa are the new KRU Nationwide champions after defeating JKUAT Cougars 31-16 in the final at the RFUEA Ground on Saturday 15 April 2023.
They went ahead through a penalty from Elvis Namusasi and Charles Onyango’s unconverted try for an 8-0 score.
Two more Namusasi penalties took Mombasa 14-0 ahead at the break
Lazarus Okello’s unconverted try and Namusasi’s conversion from Yassin Mohamed’s try saw them go 26-0 up.
Davis Masinga then scored a try and penalty for JKUAT, bringing the scores to 26-8 before Japheth Okello scored a second try for a 26-13 score line.
Another Masinga penalty made it 26-16 before Emmanuel Okeya scored an unconverted try to confirm the full time score.
