Champions and current league leaders Top Fry Nakuru play fifth placed Mwamba  in a match day nine encounter at the Nakuru Athletic Club on Saturday 24 January.

The Wanyore have come unstuck against Mwamba in recent times, Kulabu denying them a victory during the 2012/13 season, playing out a 15-15 draw at the Nakuru Athletic Club before Shaban Ahmed put them to the slaughter last season, landing a hat trick en route to a 30-20 win that saw Nakuru’s unbeaten run come to a halt.

It surely is a quest for redemption for Dominique Habimana’s side who sit top of the log with 39 points coming off eight successive wins. A win against their visitors will be a morale booster, probably what they need to assert themselves as the league’s defending champions.

They were pushed to the limit last weekend, eventually winning 36-29 against a Total Nondies side that gave as good as it got. Key players for Nakuru will include Kelvin Omiyo, Martin Owila, Mike Okombe and Javan Murayi.

Mwamba come into this fixture off two successive defeats to Pan Africa Strathmore Leos and KCB, defeats that have seen them slide to fifth on the log, cedeing the final playoff slot to league debutantes Kabras Sugar.

They badly need the win in Nakuru, first to keep their playoff dream alive, and secondly, to extend the dominance over their hosts. Key players for Mwamba will include Collins Injera, Peter Chege, Nick Ongeri. They missed Dan Sikuta during last weekend’s encounter against KCB, and if declared fit, the hard running lock’s presence will certainly be felt on the day.
