While Kenya Cup qualification has already been secured for both South Coast Pirates and Impala, there is the small matter of determining the KRU Championship winner for the 2023/24 season.

These two sides will face off in the final at the Seacrest Ground in Diani on Saturday 6 April 2024. The South Coast Pirates get to host this fixture by virtue of being the highest ranked team at the close of the league phase left in the competition. They were second at the close of the league phase, earning a home semifinal berth against Daystar Falcons, winning that match 30-15 to secure their first ever Kenya Cup qualification.

Impala, 10 time Kenya Cup winners, battled through the regular campaign to finish fourth before dispatching Western Bulls 32-17 to set up a date with Masinde Muliro, whom they defeated 12-11 to return to the top tier for the first time since their relegation at the close of the 201/22 season.

Both teams will be looking to close out their fifteens season in style.

After securing Kenya Cup qualification, Pirates Head Coach, Kevin Amiani, speaking to his club’s official website, southcoastpiratesrfc.co.ke ,said, “This victory is not just for us, but for every fan who has stood by us through the highs and lows. Their support has been our source of inspiration, and we dedicate this triumph to them. Our fans have been our 16th player, we owe them this victory, they even put us under some pressure that if we don’t win this we should not walk on the streets of Diani.”

Malik Ndemi, Impala Head Coach, said after his team’s Kenya Cup qualification, ” We had to bring back player commitment and discipline and set clear what we wanted to achieve. My philosophy was simple, to put up a process before the performance. I had to impart the players with the right skills before I could let them play.”
