Shamberere reached the Lake Victoria 15s quarters with an 11-10 victory away to hosts Kibabii University in the early kickoff on Saturday 21 October 2023.
The visitors raced into an 11-0 lead at the interval courtesy of two penalties from flyhalf Shan Chimoi with winger Kefa Barasa touching down.
The hosts chased the game in the second half, coming agonizingly close through points from Amos Wabulwenyi who kicked over a penalty and a conversion from scrumhalf Denzel Juma’s try.
Kitale also booked a berth in the last eight with a 22-7 win at home to Bungoma at the MKU Ground in Kitale. They took a 19-0 lead into the break through tries from Gabriel Simiyu, Shadrack Nyongesa and Richard Asembo who also added two conversions.

Ronald Wanyama scored a conversion off Nick Lugard’s try to bring Bungoma back to 19-7 before Asembo drilled home a penalty to secure the result.
Sigalagala got the better of Vihiga Granites, winning this clash 19-6 at a rainswept Bullring in Kakamega
Mbale also advanced after their opponents, Kisii, withdrew from the pre-season tournament.
