Located about 380km from Nairobi, Kakamega Town is the home base of current Kenya Cup defending champions Kabras Sugar who play at the Kakamega Showground, off the Kakamega – Webuye Highway.

How does one get to Kakamega?

From Nairobi. There are several options including Easy Coach and Guardian Bus who operate daily morning and night buses at an average cost of Ksh 1600 one way. These buses are boarded from their yard at Railways off Haile Selassie Avenue.

Other options include Blueline Shuttle whose costs are in the range of Ksh 1500.

From Kisumu, Nakuru, Busia, Bungoma, Kisii and the environs, there are local unscheduled matatus operating to Kakamega. Fares vary across the destinations.

There is a daily flight to Kakamega operated daily by Skyward Express from the Wilson Airport in Nairobi with prices beginning at Ksh 5990.

Accommodation

Kakamega Town has a number of establishments offering accommodation for all and sundry. Pricing ranges from Ksh 1000 to Ksh 13000 per night depending on your choice of accommodation.
