Lionesses concluded their Montevideo campaign with a 6th place finish , registering one win and four losses across their fixtures.
Lionesses opened their campaign against China, where the team struggled to find rhythm early on, going down 19-5 in their first outing despite showing flashes of attacking intent.
Lionesses responded positively in their second match against Argentina, delivering their only victory of the tournament. In a tightly fought contest, the Lionesses held their nerve to secure a narrow 12-10.
Their third match against Spain, Lionesses matched Spain throughout the encounter, only to concede in the final moments and fall 19-14 in a heartbreaking last-minute defeat.
The challenge intensified in their game against South Africa, where the Lionesses were unable to gain a foothold against South Africa, suffering a 27-0 loss.
In their last match against Brazil, the Lionesses put up a spirited performance, However, Brazil’s clinical execution proved decisive, handing Lioness a 19-12 loss.
